English National Youth Arts Network

We are pleased to announce that Fusion has recently been chosen as a representative for ENYAN, the English National Youth Arts Network, for the Yorkshire Region.
In October 2003 Artswork commissioned Nick Randell Associates to research and report the feasibility of Artswork developing and co-ordinating a National Youth Arts Network for England, and make recommendations for its implementation. Artswork’s mission is to make a strategic impact on the level and quality of creative opportunities for young people and believes the development of a national network could significantly advance this mission by strengthening and giving a voice to the sector.
The report, “Developing a national youth arts network” was completed by NRA in February 2004, and Artswork launched their proposal for ENYAN at the “eight” event (the UK’s first national CPD event for youth arts, organised by Artswork) in London in May 2004. ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) is currently in development and set to go live in 2006.
ENYAN will work on both national and regional levels, a “network within networks” and a “network of networks”. It will do this by establishing four main services and activities:
The ENYAN website: internet based information services and resources
A programme of professional development: promoting information on youth arts CPD and career opportunities, including Artswork’s Artsplan department
A national forum for advocacy and lobbying: strengthening and giving voice to the sector
Regional development - national and regional forums, building and supporting the regional youth arts development infrastructure across England
ENYAN Objectives:
To raise the profile and support for youth arts within England, and by doing so create more opportunities for the creative and personal development of young people, especially young people at risk
To support the quality, growth and sustainability of youth arts provision within England for both professionals and volunteers, via a national programme of professional development, and an enhanced range of networking and skills sharing opportunities
To support and encourage the delivery and development of youth arts provision at both regional and local levels within England, to benefit the whole community
To develop a platform to support, encourage and promote opportunities for international and cultural exchange and development within the youth arts sector
ENYAN is supported by: Youth Music, DCMS, DFES, NALGAO, NAYT, CCI Skills, ACE, YJB, Engage, Youth Dance England, First Light, Voluntary Arts Network and the NYA.
ENYAN is delighted to welcome Chris Smith, The Right Hon. Lord Of Finsbury as Patron.
ENYAN is funded by Arts Council England South East.
