Arts Forum Festival 2006

A Staggering mix of music, arts and comedy is set to light up North East Lincolnshire this summer.
An impressive line-up of entertainment - covering a huge range of ages and tastes - is scheduled for the much- anticipated Arts Forum Festival. As previously reported, it will be one of the biggest arts events ever to come to the region, taking inspiration from the Edinburgh Fringe.

Scores of local groups have signed up to the Battle Of The Bands contest at the Bootlegger, Cleethorpes, between August 7 and August 12.
And the list is not yet finalised - so aspiring bands are urged to get their skates on and sign up now.

A live open air performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will grace Grimsby between August 14 and August 18, brought to you by professional theatre company Shooting Fish.
Other delights include Shakespeare workshops throughout the week, with a special opportunity for folk to do their own monologues - or whatever takes their fancy - in the cabaret.

Organiser Emma Nicholson said: "From August 19 to September 2, North East Lincolnshire will be packed full of events, performances, workshops and exhibitions. There is something for everyone. The region will be buzzing with the arts, suitable for all ages."

Workshops also include pottery, Le Coq Physical Theatre, art and other summer schools. Performance line- ups includes Shooting Fish, Fusion Theatre, Driftnet Poets, Grimsby Writers, music from Acoustic Triangle, Cuatro Viento and the Dylan Howe Quartet.

THE National Alive Network will present an evening of comedy, with professional comedians including Edinburgh Fringe performers Inder Manocha and Geoff Norcott, compered by Rufus Hound - who is currently team captain for Carol Vorderman's Big Brain Game on television.
Apples And Pears presents an evening of performance poetry with some of Britain's top up-and-coming poets.
Wax Baby Productions bring the Living Room Theatre - a 'one-on-one' puppetry experience hosted within one large house party - to Grimsby. Participants enter the venue, chat, eat and drink then, one at a time, step into a booth, pop the headset on and watch puppetry performances to music.
There will also be very special puppetry performances for children: Ronnie Le Drew, creator of Zippy from Rainbow, will be bringing his award- winning puppetry show, Snitchety Titch for ages three to six.
Meniscus Film Night will host an evening of independent films at The Venue, Grimsby, and there will be exhibitions including photography, art, pottery and theatre costume.
